CIIP February 23, 2001

The Winter 2001 CIIP-CCIS workshop will be held Friday, February 23, 2001 in the Deutz Seminar Room at the Copley International Conference Center, UCSD. The purpose of CIIP-CCIS is to promote comparative research on immigration and integration issues among UC faculty and graduate students.
UC faculty and students interested in comparative migration issues are invited to participate in the workshop; the meals on the agenda below will be provided for work shop participants. We will provide travel support for UC speakers and discussants. We have spots for several more UC faculty and graduate students to serve as discussants.

Travel. It is easiest to fly to San Diego (Airport code SAN). There are several van services that can take you from the airport to the hotel or UCSD: the Link, Supershuttle, or Cloud 9 charge $10 to $15.

We expect UC participants to arrive on Friday morning and depart on Friday evening. We have reserved rooms for those staying over Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday nights at the Best Western Inn by the Sea near the beach in downtown La Jolla, 7830 Fay Ave and Prospect Ave, tel 800-526-4545 (CA) or 800-462-9732 (US) or (858) 459-4461 or fax (858) 456-2578 or email--innbyseabw@aol.com; the cost is $90.00 per night plus 10 percent tax ($9.45) for a single or double room, including continental breakfast. When making your reservation, note that we are the UCSD/CCIS (Center for Comparative Immigration Studies) group. Please contact the hotel directly and make your reservations by January 22, 2001.

We expect 30 to 40 participants in the meeting. We will have a table in the room on which you can put migration materials that you wish to make available to the group.
