AgJOBS and Immigration Reform, October 1, 2004

AgJOBS and Immigration Reform
Friday, October 1, 2004
ARC Ballroom, UC-Davis
http://rechall.ucdavis.edu (530) 752-6071)

The Agricultural Job Opportunity, Benefits, and Security Act provides a path to legal status for some currently unauthorized farm workers and makes it easier for farm employers to employ H-2A foreign workers. This conference reviews the provisions of AgJOBS and reviews likely implementation issues to help worker advocates and QDEs, farm employers and associations, and researchers anticipate key implementation issues.
The registration fee for the conference is $75, which includes breakfast, lunch, and conference materials. We are grateful to the Giannini and Rosenberg Foundations for their support of this conference.
To reach the ARC, exit I-80 on Hwy 113 north (toward Woodland) and get off at the first exit, Hutchinson Drive, and turn right or east for about 1/2 mile until you reach La Rue Road, where you turn left and, after 400 yards, turn right onto Orchard Park Road at the ARC, which leads to Parking Lot 25. There is ample parking; a permit costs $6, and there is a sign indicating the machine that takes cash or credit cards.
Information on airport transportation from Sacramento is available at: www.sacairports.org—Yolobus 42 travels hourly to UCD from the airport. Information on lodging in Davis is available at www2.dcn.org/davis/biz/travel
