Five states account for over half of the average agricultural employment (NAICS 11) covered by unemployment insurance, which averaged 1.3 million in 2017 (BLS estimated that 73 percent of wage and salary workers in 2015 were covered by UI, including H-2A workers in some states). California accounted for a third of ag employment, followed by Washington with eight percent, Florida six percent, Texas five percent, and Oregon four percent.
