California experienced slow population growth between 2010 and 2020

California had its slowest-ever population growth between 2010 and 2020 and lost one Congressional seat as 6.1 million people left the state and 4.9 million people moved to California. Working age residents who left California had less education and lower incomes, while those moving to California had more education and higher incomes.
