July 2004, Volume 10, Number 3
We are pleased to announce two conferences at UC-Davis open to the public.
On Thursday, September 30, 2004, " Regulating Farm Labor Relations: The ALRA at 30," reviews changes in the farm labor market and changes in farm labor relations since 1975. The featured speaker is Bill Gould, Chair of the NLRB between1994 and 1998. We plan a panel of former Board members in the afternoon, and a dinner during which Pat Henning will reflect on his experiences at the ALRB.
On Friday, October 1, 2004, there will be a conference on "AgJOBS and Immigration Reform" in the same meeting room. The major negotiators for worker and employer advocates will explain the provisions of AgJOBS, and Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA) will provide a perspective on the outlook for immigration reform in Congress. The afternoon sessions will review what was learned during the SAW program and outline the next steps in preparation for AgJOBS.
Registration information for both conferences is available at: //migration.ucdavis.edu/cf/index.php
