Expert Commissions and Migration Policy Making: April 18-19, 2013

Expert Commissions and Migration Policy Making

Thursday, April 18, 2013, UC-Davis
Friday, April 19, 2013, UC-Berkeley

The purpose of this conference is to explore the use of expert commissions to provide advice and/or to establish quotas for the number of foreign workers to admit, especially at the top and bottom of the labor market. Speakers and discussants explore the promises and pitfalls of independent expert commissions to help determine migrant admissions for economic purposes. The papers will be posted at //migration.ucdavis.edu/rs/ and published in Migration Letters.

We are grateful to the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation, the UCB European Union Center of Excellence, and the Gifford Center for Population Studies for their support of this conference.

Lunch will be provided. If you would like to participate, please email Philip Martin.
